This is he most significant piece of Hitchcock furniture I have ever owned. This is a signed Hitchcock , Alford and co Hitchcocksville conn warranted which puts it close to 190 years old. There are a bunch of reasons why this chair is amazing and probably one of a kind. First it is a sturdy as a brand new Hitchcock rocking chair (there is a reason), it has a flat seat . There 15 or so antique rockers I have had had a back on the seat . Another great feature is the condition. The top stencil is a little more worn because that is where oily hands grab the chair, but the most significant feature is the size of the rocker. This is a faithful rocker and I am picturing it below with a modern era Hitchcock faithful rocker . This rocker was custom made for a very tall person. The rocker was built extra sturdy for this reason. I am 6 feet tall and when I rock back my feet come off the ground. This is definitely a rare piece of Hitchcock history. I purchased this rocker from a high end Americana antique auction .$1650 ($1500 cash or check discount)
